A Prescott man was killed when his car was struck by a train Sunday night.
The accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. at the crossing of Nevada 48 South and the Union Pacific tracks next to Highway 67, just south of the Prescott city limits.
Jimmie L. Guyton, Jr., 47, was driving a maroon 1990 Buick Century north across the tracks when an eastbound Amtrak train struck the rear passenger side of his vehicle.
Guyton was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene by Nevada County Coroner William Mullins. His body was taken to Brazzel Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Guyton was the only person in the car. No one on the train was injured.
The Nevada County Ambulance Service responded to the call along with the Emmet Volunteer Fire Department and Nevada County Sheriff’s Department. The accident was investigated by Trooper Christina Morris of the Arkansas State Police.
Guyton was reported to not be wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
