Two people from Prescott were injured Friday afternoon when their car was apparently run off the highway in Hempstead County.
Danny Gillard, the driver, and his passenger, Kyara Gulley, were traveling west on I-30 at the 39-mile-marker around 3:32 p.m. when, according to Gillard and an eye-witness, an unidentified vehicle pulling a trailer forced Gillard’s 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis off the left side of the highway and into the median where he plowed through some small trees before crashing head-first in to a larger oak tree.
The vehicle that forced the car off the road did not stop.
Gillard and Gulley were transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope by Pafford EMS. Arkansas State Trooper Christina Morris arrived on the scene early as she was working a nearby traffic stop. She assisted the injured until paramedics arrived.
Gillard and Gulley were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
