A Prescott woman was severely injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday evening.

Connie Beard was driving a red Nissan Sentra west on Highway 67 about a mile west of Prescott around 5:10 p.m. when she apparently pulled over to the side of the highway to make a u-turn, pulling out in front of a silver Dodge Heavy Duty flatbed welding truck that was following behind her.

Beard was treated on the scene for several minutes by Pafford EMS medics before being transported to Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana.

Donald Foster of Louisiana was driving the welding truck. Skid marks show where Foster put on his brakes trying to avoid Beard’s car before crashing into the car’s driver’s side.

Foster, who works for Southern Pipeline, was uninjured.

Beard is employed by the City of Prescott and works in City Hall. A prayer was said for Beard at the beginning of Monday night’s Prescott City Council meeting by Councilman Gary Lowdermilk.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Glendon Flowers of the Arkansas State Police.
