Prisoner charged with smuggling contraband into jail

A prisoner in the Hempstead County Detention Center has received additional charges for allegedly attempting to smuggle prohibited items into the jail.

Dannette Moore, 35, of Hope, was charged Friday, October 5th with Furnishing, Possessing or Using Prohibited Articles in a Correctional Facility.

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department says the arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation into attempts to smuggle contraband into the jail.

The charge against Moore is a class C Felonly. She was awaiting a first court appearance.

Moore was being held in the jail for Permitting the Abuse of a Minor and Third Degree Escape.

Jailer Jeremy D. Brown was charged with smuggling items into the jail on September 26th.
