PRESCOTT – Santa made his first visit to Prescott Saturday, but he didn’t arrive in a sleigh drawn by eight tiny reindeer.

Instead, Santa roared into town on a Harley followed by members of the Swamprider Motorcycle Club. This was part of the club’s toy run as members of the club bought toys to give to needy children during the Christmas season. The toys were dropped off at the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber Director Jamie Hillery said the toys will be distributed at the Chamber’s Christmas events, starting with Christmas on the Square Thursday, Dec. 5 and Breakfast with Santa if any are left.

The Swampriders have been making these toy runs for years and helped immensely when the defunct Nevada County Picayune did its annual toy drive.

This year, youngsters will be taking home some nice toys as the bikers dropped off games, dolls, stuffed animals, balls and a Lazer Tag game.

Prescott Police Chief Joey Beavers was also on hand, also on his Harley. Everyone got into the spirits of the season as the bikers paraded through the Chamber office dropping off the toys.

Once the toys were delivered, Santa hopped back on his hog, posed for a picture with a thrilled young boy, and headed back off to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas in earnest.
