Entergy Corporation fixed a problem at its Magnolia West substation on West Greene Street on Sunday afternoon, ending a six-hour blackout for 1,127 meters.
Tongia Gaston, customer service manager for Entergy, said that an equipment failure happened just before 10 a.m. at the substation, affecting four main circuits in the Magnolia area.
Crews arrived at the substation, isolated the problem and repaired damaged equipment. Service was restored by 4 p.m.
The Sterling Lacy Water Treatment plant located next to the substation went to back-up generator power after the outage. . Magnolia Regional Medical Center also used its back-up power system.
Magnolia police officers directed traffic at the intersections of West Main and North Vine, and at Columbia and North Jackson. The traffic control devices were not working.
