PRESCOTT – Tuesday night will definitely be a night to remember this year.

The Annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will be holding its banquet that night at the Prescott High School cafeteria with the theme “A Night to Remember”. It will be a night of memories and celebration as the Citizen of the Year, Treasure of Gold, Farm Family, Business Leader, Educators and Students of the Year are all recognized.

State Sen. Bruce Maloch will be the featured speaker. Maloch was raised on a farm near Emerson, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Business Agriculture from Southern Arkansas University before going on to law school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s School of Law.

He was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2004, serving three terms before running for the Arkansas Senate in 2012. He’s worked with Abilities Unlimited, the Arkansas Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Rancher’s state committee, Arkansas FFA Foundation, Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association and several other agriculture-related organizations.

The evening will begin with patrons getting the chance to view and bid on 70 items in the silent auction. With this many items, there should be something for pretty much everyone. There will also be a live auction during the event. Live auction items include: A gift certificate for spray services from PSE; an Arkansas Razorback gift basket; a Prescott Curley Wolf AAA State Champion autographed football; a Razorback shooting table; Calloway golf bag; four all-season sports passes to all PHS sports; an Echo professional grade trimmer; a Razorback planter; a wooden glider; and a Curley Wolf state champ autographed football helmet. Don Honea will be the auctioneer.

Prior to the live auction, a gun raffle will be held. Nevada County Sheriff Danny Martin is again donating a gun for this portion of the banquet.

Maloch will speak after the live auction and be followed by recognizing the 2016 Farm Family of the Year, and the presentation of the Business Leadership Award. Next up will be the student and educators of the year for the Prescott and Nevada school districts. This will be followed by the Organization of the Year; Treasure of Gold; Hometown Hero; and end with the naming of the 2017 Citizen of the Year.

This year’s meal will be catered by The Fish Bowl.
